Experience the Magic of the Moors
HPR Grouse Training & Pointing Test | March 6th – 8th, 2026
Join us for New Season for the Norfolk & Suffolk HPR Field Trial Club
We are delighted to open entries for our premier event of the season. Set against the stunning backdrop of Roxby Moor in North Yorkshire, this weekend is dedicated to excellence in HPR work, fostering a supportive community, and celebrating the natural abilities of our dogs.
Whether you are a seasoned field competitor or a first-time moorland visitor, we invite you to be part of our journey as we build a bright, inclusive future for the club.
The Weekend Schedule
Fri 6th & Sat 7th March: Small-Group Training
-
The Focus: Build confidence and skill in a professional, encouraging environment.
-
Intimate Learning: We maintain a strict ratio with maximum groups of 6, ensuring you and your dog receive dedicated 1-on-1 time.
-
Expert Instruction: Led by renowned trainers Andrew Farley and Mark Firmin.
-
Open to All: No prior grouse experience is necessary—only a desire to learn and work with your dog.
Sun 8th March: Grouse Pointing Test
-
The Opportunity: A chance to showcase your dog’s natural instincts.
-
Perfect for Juniors: This is an ideal, low-pressure entry point for younger dogs (6 months to 2 years) or those new to testing.
-
Supportive Judging: Evaluated by Mark Firmin (A Panel) and Mark Taylor (Non-Panel).
Our Host: Roxby Moor
We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of Mark Taylor, the moor’s head keeper. As an HPR owner and worker himself, Mark brings a unique perspective to the weekend. Throughout the event, he will provide insights into the incredible biodiversity of the North Yorkshire moors and the vital relationship between the keeper, the land, and the dog.
